Technical information
This accessory with adjustable vice grip allows various shapes and sizes of samples to be held either in compression or in tension for analysis in different microscope makes and models. Samples can be stretched and rotated by well-defined amount and increments. Sample sizes up to 40mm diameter can be accommodated.
Customised stages for Nicolet, Spectra-Tech, Bruker, Biorad, Nikon, Olympus and Renishaw microscope models are available.

Technical information
The patented Mini Plane micro sampling knife enables easy sampling of materials such as polymers, coatings, organic tissues, inorganic objects, fibres and coatings for microscopy analysis. Samples can be scraped or sliced to uniform controlled thickness and depth with minimum damage to specimen. The resultant sample sizes are extremely reproducible. Thickness and depth variation are achieved by precise screw adjustment on the micro plane that moves the cutting blade.
Two types of blades are available.
- A single Sumi-Crystal Synthetic Type IIa Diamond for planning and cutting hard polymers, inorganic materials and fibres or coatings from metallic surfaces. It is also ideal for cutting multi-layer polymers.
- A Carbide Steel blade best for planning and cutting off thin sections of most polymers, coated materials and organic tissues.

Technical information
These are made of high quality Type IIa Synthetic Diamond with no impurities that will interfere with sample measurements in the UV, visible or infrared regions. The diamond has high throughput over a wide wavelength range, highly resistant to chemical attack, can withstand extreme pressures and easily cleaned. Two different size diameters (2.5mm and 3.5mm) are securely bonded into a 1" x 3" slide plate for use in various microscopes.

This unique and patented sample manipulation tool is designed to fix directly onto the objective of most microscopes. Manual handling of micro samples is often too unsteady and tedious while the use of joystick controlled micromanipulators can be complex and expensive. The EZ Pick tool is ideal for any application requiring complex sample manipulation as well as quick and easy handling of simple procedures with high throughput benefit.
This highly popular microscope accessory allows precise control of samples directly under the microscope including force application on sample specimen, direction and positioning operations with repeatable accuracy. The EZ Pick Manipulator is supplied equipped with a full range of sampling tools including knives, needles, micro plane and micro sample dislodger. The assembled accessory mounts directly on the objective of the microscope. The tip of the selected sampling tool and the sample specimen on the stage are aligned and brought into focus and by using the x-y-z movements of the microscope stage, the sample can be manipulated, cut, sectioned or operated as required.
4.1 Micro sampling blade knife - The knife holder and blade can be inserted into the EZ Pick tool for cutting micro specimens from samples in any direction without rotating the sample. Proper tension for cutting the sample is obtained from the spring set on the support post of the EZ Pick. The blades are available in three cutting angle levels of 0, 15 and 30 degrees all fitting into one holder.
4.2 Diamond micro plane - The plane mounts directly in the EZ Pick tool and is used for planning or scraping off the surfaces of samples. The planed surface fragment can then be collected for analysis or the exposed surface layer of the bulk material can then be analysed The cutting surface of the micro plane is a single crystal diamond set into the tip of the blade and can cut thickness from 1-2 microns up to 50 microns.
4.3 Standard Tool Kit - The complete standard tool kit comprises of the following:
1 off
EZ Pick Tool
3 off
Electrically polished Tungsten Needles (1" long x 0.5mm diameter each with 1, 2.5 and 5 micron tip)
2 off
Needle Holders (pin vice style)
1 off
Needle Positioner used for initial focusing of needles in the EZ Pick tool
1 off
Micro Sample Dislodger used for dislodging the selected micro specimen from the needle onto a sample plate for analysis
2 off
Positioning Rings

Adjusting Wrenches (Allen Keys)
4.4 Four versions of the EZ Pick are available. Together, the EZ Pick covers most optical microscopes (including IR, Raman, Fluorescence and Stereoscopes) A working distance of at least 5mm and an x-y-z microscope stage are required. The following options are available:
EZ Pick Standard accommodates objectives with diameters of 18-32mm
EZ Pick - 40 accommodates objectives with diameters 27-40mm
EZ Pick - 63 accommodates objectives with diameters 54-63mm
EZ Pick - PE a special version for Perkin Elmer FT-IR microscopes.

Technical information
The Diamond EX-Press is an excellent sample preparation tool for FTIR micro analysis. The diamond is a high quality Synthetic Type IIa Sumi-crystal with excellent physical and infrared transmission properties. Samples of solids and film (e.g. mineral stones, polymers and pharmaceutical materials) can be compressed to thin uniform films by using only finger tight pressure for good infrared analysis without prior sample preparation.
The cell is fitted with 1mm thick diamonds, has a working distance of only 11mm and fitted with a 3" x 2" backplate making it ideal for FTIR spectrometers without a beam condenser and Infrared Microscopes with 15X and 32X objectives.
